The Volunteering Partnership is desperately seeking foreign speakers to act on the community's behalf when people move to Roxby Downs from overseas.
"There is a growing number of people settling in Roxby Downs from foreign countries, for whom English is a second language,"Volunteering Partnership spokesperson Michelle Hales said.
"When a person is recruited from overseas any language barrier can affect not only themselves, but their entire family, which may mean they experience difficulty settling into a new community and school system.
"We urgently need foreign language speakers to act as interpreters for these people and their families," she said.
The Volunteering Partnership is compiling a list of people who speak a foreign language and would be willing to volunteer their time for this service.
In particular they are urgently seeking a Spanish speaker.
"We want to establish a register of people who speak a second language who are willing to volunteer on a needs basis to help these people integrate into the Roxby Downs community," Ms Hales said.
"We're not asking for a lot of time, just a bit of help to make the transition for these families that little bit easier."
