One of South Australiaís most comprehensive research projects has found training is helping primary producers up-skill and maintain the viability of the Stateís industries.
FarmBis says its ëTraining Industry Initiatives Programí reveals what the future training needs of producers are and how the training industry can help tailor training to make it more accessible.
Laura Fell, FarmBis State Planning Group Chair says the study involved more than 800 primary producers from across six industry sectors, and looked at identifying their existing knowledge, skills and future training needs.
ìThe reality is farmers and producers can no longer afford not to undertake training, with technology, market forces, and the environment constantly changing,î Ms Fell said.
ìIf we are to compete on a national and international scale then we need to ensure that our producers are getting the training they need and the support necessary for them to be the best in the business.
ìIt is hoped that this study will help pave a way forward for our industries and training providers to work together and provide producers with the skills necessary to face future challenges.î
