Eligible individuals in rural and remote areas are encouraged to apply for the Nurse Scholarship Programís Rural and Remote Undergraduate Scheme which opened this month.
The Executive Director of Royal College of Nursing, Australia (RCNA) Rosemary Bryant is encouraging people living in rural and remote areas who are currently undertaking or intending to enrol in an undergraduate or graduate entry nursing course at an Australian University to apply for a scholarship for the 2008 academic year.
ěThe scheme, funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing and administered by RCNA, provides financial assistance for people who would like to study nursing but find the cost too high.î
By applying for this scheme applicants have the potential to receive $10,000 a year for full time nursing studies and enrolled nurses studying part-time could potentially receive $5,000 a year.
Over the six years of the schemeís operation, it has been highly successful in helping people to enter the nursing profession and then to return as qualified nurses to rural and remote areas.
RCNA is seeking applications from eligible people wishing to undertake an accredited undergraduate or graduate entry, pre-registration (entry to practice) nursing course.
For further information about the scheme or to download the application and guidelines document visit the RCNA website at www.rcna.org.au, or email scholarships@rcna.org.au or call toll free 1800 11 72 62
. Applications close at 5pm on Friday 13 July.
