Expansion on track

Recently, The Sydney Morning Herald reported BHP Billiton plans to send a train from Olympic Dam to Darwin every day of the year once the mine is operating.
The biggest shareholder in BHP Billiton and the world’s largest investor in resource companies, BlackRock Investments, have doubled its stake in Genesee and Wyoming- the American company that operates the railway which has been proposed as the main export route for Olympic Dam’s resources.

Roxby Health Services welcomed Community Midwife Helen Freeman to their team last month, in answer to a growing demand for services in the community.
After the departure of long serving Community Midwife Mel Allen in December 2010, Roxby Health Service was unable to secure a permanent midwifery service for over twelve months.

Recently, the Property Council of Australia’s Member Relations Manager, Chris Hagi, visited Roxby Downs to finalize plans for the ninth annual Invest SA conference to be held at the end of this month.

Last week the Roxby Districts Cricket Association travelled to Adelaide to take part in the South Australian Country Carnival, blitzing the competition and returning home triumphant.
The team had a very successful week winning all games and Friday night receiving the winners’ trophy.

For the month of March, Peter Kapitola will be holding photography courses for the youth of Roxby Downs.
Budding photographers will meet once a week from 7.30pm until 8.30pm at the Youth Centre to learn ‘tricks of the trade’ from Mr Kapitola.
Youth Activities Officer, Nicole Trethowen thinks it is a fantastic way to offer the youth of Roxby Downs a skill they may not learn without a workshop.
She said the workshops may even inspire a future career.

Roxby Downs Kindergarten has embraced the ‘Apple’ revolution, purchasing seven iPad 2’s for both student and teacher use late last year.
The move came after New Zealand Teacher Wendy Lee introduced use of the iPad’s at Andamooka Primary School and ran a training session with Roxby Downs Kindergarten teachers.
