Devils dominate
Olympic Dam continued its dominance over the local competition with a convincing victory over Roxby Districts.
There were strange happenings before the game with Roxby District's choosing to do their pre-match warm up away from the oval at a secret location.
The game started at a frenetic pace with both teams working hard and the pressure on. The Devils took control but inaccurate kicking for goal saw them finishing the first quarter with a return of 2 goals 6 points.
In the second quarter Roxby Districts failed to take advantage of a stiffening breeze and Olympic Dam's disciplined defence was very effective in denying the Miners any easy shots at goal. Poor decision-making, under pressure, by the Miners saw the Devils kick easy goals on the rebound.
As the second quarter unfolded, OD through their coach Scott Peek and ruckman Spinks and Darrie, they started to dominate the game but for the efforts of Roxby's captain Pyke and fullback Chislett. Midfielder Rose also kept the Roxby team in the game at half time.
The third quarter was a fairly even affair with OD doing just enough to stay in front.

Once again big OD ruckman Spinks got his hand to the ball at every throw in and bounce up giving the smaller OD players first use of the ball this continued for the rest of the day. With 20 seconds left to play in the third quarter Roxby Districts' Smart was yellow carded leaving the Miners short one player and without one of their best contributors for 10 minutes of the final quarter.
Veteran Scott Peek's performance, playing unchecked a kick behind play, repelled any attacks and Daniel Rogers started to find space.
Miners Jonathon Chislett and Jarrod Pyke were solid in defence, taking many contested marks and holding the W&DFL's dominant full forward Scott Montgomerie to two goals.

OD's Bradley Rynne's physical presence and new recruits Matthew Darrie and Ruckman Dylan Webb were prominent in the win. Josh Rose worked hard all day but the Miners failed to capitalise on his clearances.
Wade Ingerson played another quality game on the wing for Olympic Dam.
Olympic Dam was the superior team and Roxby Districts will need to improve vastly to challenge them if they meet again come finals time.
Zodiacs over Miners Red by one goal
By Bec Eli
Chilly nights are doing nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of the senior netballers as finals approach.
The game of the round this week proved to be between Zodiacs and Miners Red in the B grade.
Starting strongly Miners gained the upper hand early taking the first quarter 13 to 6. This continued through the second and by half time they looked to have the game sealed with a 30 to 18 goal lead. The experience of Weir being taken to the bench at half time along with Casserly proved costly for the Miners who, in the third, scored only nine goals as opposed to Zodiacs eighteen which meant at the three quarter time whistle Miners Red led only by three. This set up a nail biting final quarter in which again Zodiacs outscored Miners Red whose score was just enough to hold a one goal lead, Miner's winning the game, by one goal, 51 to 50.
The other B grade game between Miners 2 and Hornridge also proved to be close. Miners 2 led at the first quarter break seven to four but with a positional change in the defence end at quarter time with Moyle taking the court in Goal Keeper, Hornridge gained momentum and at half time led fifteen to twelve. The second half of the game continued in the same fashion and Hornridge took the win by three goals, 37 to 34.
This week in the A grade GHD Gems faced Sodexo Geckos. Geckos enjoyed the luxury of a full bench while Gems had regained Knights this week but lost the experience and height of Cuthbert. Their last meeting with Geckos being a close one anything was possible. Gems started the game well and at half time were enjoying a nine goal lead. Positional changes throughout the game by Geckos failed to impact the lead and GHD Gems took the game 48 to 39.
In the other A grade game Miners played Hornridge. From the start of the match Hornridge were too strong for Miners. Hornridge got a quick lead in the first and enjoyed the breathing space for the majority of the match. Miners did gain some momentum in the second but Hornridge soon regained composure which ensured a convincing win 43 to 33.

In the C grade Hornridge played Andamooka and Miners White played Zodiacs. The Hornridge and Andamooka game proved to be the closer of the two. From the first whistle of the match, Hornridge looked too strong for Andamooka and at the quarter time break held a 12 to 5 goal lead. Andamooka made some changes and regained some of the margin in the second and at the long break the difference was just four.
The game continued in a similar manner for the remainder and at full time Hornridge had taken the win, 35 to 30.
Miners White faced Zodiacs 2 in the other C grade game. With Zodiacs showing improvement but yet to win a game this season, Miners White were favourites. Miners, like the other games this week got out to a big lead in the first quarter and at quarter time were up by eight. Zodiacs however pulled back some of the lead in the second and were trailing by only 4 at half time. However with some positional changes for the third, Miners increased the momentum and by full time had convincingly won the game, by twelve goals, 40 to 28.
